The Very Hungry Caterpillar - Retelling with Props
Our Eric Carle Author Study is in full swing with the addition of "The Very Hungry Caterpillar." Books we have read and discussed are "Do You Want to Be My Friend", "Have You Seen My Cat", and "From Head to Toe". Although the children have liked those books, their favorite by far is "The Very Hungry Caterpillar." Today students used props to retell the story. They had the opportunity to feed that hungry caterpillar by giving it lots of fruit and other tasty treats. After it ate and ate it built its house and then emerged as a beautiful butterfly. In Writer's Workshop, students have just started to write a "Response to Literature" about this story and we can't wait to show you the results...stay hungry for more!!

Such a metamorphisis in kindergarten. Thanks for giving our children the hunger for learning and wings to fly.
It's fun to see James want to go back and read Eric Carle's books to his baby brother. James adds his own anecdotes from his lessons in school on the author.
Tia is really enjoying this! Loves the Eric Carle books and talks about them everyday.
Omer loves Eric Carle ...he makes sure he lets his little brother knows who he is and his themes...thanks.
